Every time I pass by this one street on my way home, I notice the street stretches far above that becomes hilly which reminds me of roller coasters. I always wondered where those streets would lead to, so one day I decided to haul my lazy butt that have been in a workout slump to jog up there to check it out. Lo and behold its a neighborhood of mansions! Such beautiful homes with manicured lawns , fancy gates and door trims, paved driveways...I never imagined a beauty such as this to be in my city, Fullerton! What made it even better was that I found a short trail with an amazing view of the surrounding cities of Orange County where i can utilize to exercise.
I wanted my boyfriend to check out the trail along with amazing million dollar houses so today, Saturday morning we went on a little exploring...

The view below
I love how my banana is chillin in the background..hehe
After the little hike, we went our seperate ways and I decided to buy some heirloom tomatoes since they are very much in season right now. I never tried heirloom tomatoes because they are somewhat pricier than your average tomato, they don't look ripe enough to eat although they are, and I haven't seen it available everywhere, not to mention I thought they were more for asthetics and decoration purposes more so than consuming. Haha. I knew my mom would love these because she loves wholesome, natural, unique fruits and vegetables that looks like it was just picked from the farm sort of things rather than the regular produce you see and get at the grocery so i had to get some! I got these at Whole Foods on "sale" for $2.99 a lb. Whoo a dollar off! -_-
Heirloom tomatoes vary in shapes, sizes, and colors and some look like a mini monstrous pumpkin! Each of them, based on their variety has a unique taste to them. When my mom took a bite of it, she said this is what tomato should taste like and it's the taste she remembered eating while growing up. According to her, tomatoes these days do not taste the same as long time ago. Probably due to waxes, coloring, pesticides, etc... Who knows.
I made a simple salad using the tomatoes, fresh basil, mozzarella cheese and dressed it up with some balsamic vinegar, olive oil, and salt and pepper. It was delicious but I think the best way to enjoy these tomatoes are eating it simple...
Sliced with a little salt and pepper on top!
There's always something new to find and learn each day!
